Chandigarh: Sikhs another prominent place Kartarpur Sahib, where the Guru Nanak Ji spent his last 17 years of life by doing farming, was proposed to Pakistan government to swap with India , which a resolution passed in Punjab assembly , got reject by Pakistan officials. Pakistan has rejected the Kartarpur land swap proposal for which a resolution was passed by the Punjab Assembly on December 14, recently with another piece of land to make it a part of India.
Pakistan foreign office spokesperson Mohammad Faisal had said ‘Absolutely not’ while responding to the a media query on the issue of swap of land. He also made it clear that the ;and swapping can cause of threat to the nations security. Dera Baba Nanak stands opposite the gurudwara on the Indian side and is the place from where the Kartarpur Corridor is to be constructed. This is the place where Guru Nanak the founder of the Sikh religion spend the last 18 yers of his life. It falls in Narowal district of Pakistani Punjab.
Punjab Cabinet Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, MLA from Dera Baba Nanak had even offered land from his constituency for the purpose. Congress Rajya Sabha member Partap Singh Bajwa had also written to the Prime Ministr, Narendra Modi in September with the similar proposal. Rather he quoted the example of 1962 deal when a land was swapped with Pakistan in return for a piece of land at Hussainiwala – a place of cremation site of Bhagat Singh, Suhdev and Rajguru.
